Since 1883, the Philadelphia Phillies have boasted a multitude of accomplishments, beginning their historic franchise under the name of the "Philadelphia Quakers." After six years of playoff contention, the team decided to change their name to the "Phillies" in honor of their fans. With the combination of the AL and NL, the Phillies start the new era in professional baseball strong with a 2nd place finish and win their first pennant in 1915 with Hall-of-Fame pitcher Grover Alexander throwing four one-hitters in a row. The Philadelphia Phillies have been home to twenty eight Hall of Famers including outfielder Richie Ashburn, pitcher Jim Bunning, and third baseman Mike Schmidt. The team currently plays at the new Citizens Bank Park and have played there since 2004. The Phillies' overall franchise victories include one World Series Championship, five National League pennants, and seven division titles.
